After an explosive appearance at the 42nd Winnipeg Folk Festival, lauded as the “best Tweener” and a member of the most memorable workshop in Folkfest history, The West End Cultural Centre is proud to present Daniel Champagne November 17th.
This young Australian isn’t a stranger to touring and has hit our stage before, bringing his unique brand of acoustic, blues-tinged folk with him. Classically trained, Champagne has the ability to make a one-man show feel like a whole band, with flying riffs and heart-shattering lyrics. Only in his mid-20s, Champagne is already regarded as a leading light in acoustic music, with a firm reputation for making festivals buzz, holding crowds in his palm, dropping jaws and breaking guitars wherever he goes.
“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band, Champagne is just magical” – themusic.com.au
“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” – BW Review, New Zealand
“Tweener performances included a powerful and on-point session by the sisters of Les soeurs Boulay, and an equally stellar stint by Aussie bluesman Daniel Champagne, who made so many sounds come from his guitar it almost seemed impossible that only one man was playing.” – Winnipeg Free Press
